How to scan a QR code or barcode

  1. 1. Start the camera and allow the browser permission, or choose Upload image to read a photo or screenshot instead.
  2. 2. Frame the code so the whole pattern and a small white margin are visible and in focus.
  3. 3. Read the result — copy the decoded text or open a link after checking the destination we show you.

Private and instant

The scanner runs on your device using your browser's camera. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared, which makes it safe for scanning tickets, Wi-Fi codes and internal labels. Links are never opened automatically: we always show you the destination host first so you can decide.

Frequently asked questions

Is this barcode scanner free?
Yes. Camera and image scanning are completely free, with no account, no install and no scan limits.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser, so photos and camera frames never leave your device.
Which codes can it read?
QR codes plus common 1D barcodes including CODE128, CODE39, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, ITF and Codabar.
Why won't my code scan?
Usually the photo is blurry, angled or too small. Move closer, hold steady, add light and keep the whole code with a white margin in frame.
